The Town of Falmouth for Couples

Woods Hole Harbor, Cape Cod
Woods Hole Harbor

The Town of Falmouth is a vibrant year-round Cape Cod destination made up of eight separate villages, which offer plenty of activities for all kinds of couples, from theater to windsurfing, to biking, shopping and dining. It's a terrific place to spend your Cape vacation, or even just to visit for a weekend.

We most often find ourselves in Woods Hole during the summer, since it's the end point of the Shining Sea Bike Path, probably the prettiest of all Cape Cod's bike trails. We often take a break from cycling right along Old Silver Beach and just float and enjoy the serenity in the warm waters along the Falmouth shores.

Woods Hole is also the best place to catch a ferry to Martha's Vineyard, so it's always bustling in the summer time, and its a great place to just sit and people watch.

With 68 miles of coastline, more than any other Cape Cod town, Falmouth offers terrific water access, with the average summer temperature hovering around 70 degrees, warm enough even for Michael to swim, and much warmer than the beaches of the National Seashore.

First settled in 1660 by Quakers and Congregationalists fleeing religious persecution in Sandwich and Bourne, Falmouth quickly became a noted farming and whaling community.

Although a few family farms remain today, it's now known for its beautiful beaches, marshes and seaside toen charm.

While the Town of Falmouth has a small mall and many of the same national retail chains as Hyannis does, it is better known for the independent retail shops on Falmouth Main Street than for the box store experience.
