About UsWe are a 40 something Cape Cod couple living in the small and tranquil town of East Sandwich, MA with two teens and three cats. Our 16 year old son and 13 year old daugher prefer to hang out or chat with their friends these days, rather than with Mom and Dad, except of course, if they need a ride or want their allowance.
And despite our attempts (mainly Karen's!) at staying hip, trendy, and cool, the kids are having none of it, and between their jobs, their sports, and their girlfriends and boyfriends (Over Michael's Dead Body!) they don't really have the time, anyway. Occasionally, we’re able to drag them to a bike trail or beach, but it usually involves some level of extortion. And cramming our three cats into the car just looks ridiculous and crosses that crazy cat lady line. Exploring the Cape as a couple is a lot simpler. We no longer have to eat lunch at a particular time or place and we can even duck into a pub and eat at the bar. We can do sushi or funky sandwiches. We can browse the many antiques shops without the fear of the kids accidentally knocking into a centuries old vase and without hearing the moans of ‘not another store' from the back seat of the car. When we are not out exploring the Cape, we’re working from home in the medical publishing field. Neither of us are travel writers, so you're not going to find a "professional" tourist guide-type site here. That's not the aim, anyway. It's really just a regular couple, enjoying Cape Cod, snapping a few photos and writing about what we've been up to. We are happy that you’ve stopped by. Each day we'll put up more information so do come back often and see what’s new. We'll find the latest restaurants, the most romantic B&Bs, the best beaches and anything else we find to do. We'll also list plays, golf courses, concerts, and unique shops we find. You'll hear from local 'experts' who will tell you what you can't miss and what you can probably do without. We’ll do our best to add something new at least every few days so there will always be something new to come back for.
A Word About PronounsIn general, we'll use "we" and "our" in describing our Cape Cod adventures. Having said that, we're not joined at the hip, and there are plenty of things that Karen loves to do (such as shopping) that wild horses couldn't drag Michael to. Similarly, Karen is no great fan of golf, while Michael loves nothing more than playing 18 at the local links.
So we'll occasionally split up and write solo pieces and you might catch us using the occasional "I" or "my". Even so, we'll still try and tell the story from a couple's perspective.
